Feeding America, Aug 21, 2010 Roanoke Ski Club volunteers help feed area hungry Saturday morning, August 21, twenty-two RSC members,
family members, and hopefully two new members, took time from their busy
schedules to provide much needed food to people in need. The stats were amazing.
Volunteers
processed more than 3 tons of food in 4 different stations at Feeding
Southwest Virginia (formally known as the Food Bank).
Monday
paid employees will stock the warehouse with the pallets prepared by RSC
members.
Tuesday and Wednesday, area ‘agencies’ (like RAM house,
churches, soup kitchens, etc.) will pick up the food.
Thursday people will start eating it.
And animals too.
Not only did RSC help process 3 tons of food, we
also processed 200 pounds of dog and cat food that will go to the SPCA. Thanks (in order they signed in) to Marilyn Donato, Jill
and Gerry Betters, Mark and Ben Hanson, Hugh Scruggs, Chris Nuckols, Roger
and Mandy Pommerenke, Becky Stinnett, Sherry Kessel, Tomy Trang, Clive, Sam
and CJ Hillyard, Linda and Ed Staley, Karen Saunders, Sandy Light, Erin
Spradling, and Ron and Barbara Nemura. Click on photo to enlarge then use arrows to navigate |
